About

We are based in Midleton, Co. Cork and present two full length concert programmes every year at various venues throughout East Cork. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m.

Membership of the choir is by invitation, following a short audition of no more than 10 minutes. Competence at sight-singing is essential, but this is not tested at audition. The audition, which consists mostly of singing scales and exercises, usually takes place at our rehearsal venue, but alternative arrangements can be made. Our primary concern is to only add voices that blend with the existing ensemble and hopefully enhance it.

In our first four years membership has been kept 18/19 singers. Since then we increased this number to 24/25 not only for competition purposes but also to enable the performance of more works for double chorus, and a slightly larger choir would facilitate this.

In 2007 and 2008 we won The Premier National Chamber Choir 'title' at the Cork International Choral Festival and the John Mannion Memorial Trophy. In 2008 we were awarded The Victor Leeson Perpetual Trophy for the best overall choir in the Premier National competitions and consequently were designated the National Choir of the festival. Arising from this we were invited to enter the Fleishmann International Competition in Cork International Competition 2009.
